Worship is More Than just singing…It’s a Lifestyle
There are many instances that compel us to think that we exist without a purpose – that we are here by accident. However, this is far from the truth. None of us are unplanned. In fact, God created us with a specific and wonderful purpose – which is to worship Him, and Him alone.
In worship, we are wholeheartedly offering ourselves to God through prayer, singing, praise, God’s Word and the sacrament. In worship, a person reflects God in every aspect of his life and fully surrenders to the will of God through grace and grace alone. In such a life, God dwells in us and His righteousness becomes our lifestyle.
Worship has been offered in many ways and at different times. As early as the time of Enoch, men dedicated their lives to God. Noah, for example, worshipped God by obeying His will; many others in the Old Testament also worshipped God through obedience, particularly, by presenting burnt offerings.
In New Testament times, worship took on a new direction. The Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth that all believers are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19), and as Christ put it, “…worshippers must worship in Spirit and in truth.” (John 4: 24) Thus, since we are the temple of the Divine Presence of God, our life, our very purpose, is wholeheartedly worshipping God and acknowledging that He is Holy – infinitely perfect, worthy of infinite adoration and infinitely removed from sin.
One of the major ways through which we can worship God, is by pouring our hearts to him through the gift of music. Psalms 147:1 emphasizes this fact and encourages us to praise God in music. Worship has the power to touch, inspire and transform the worshipper’s life. Indeed, the Word of God reveals how many people obtained breakthroughs in the midst of their worship. In Acts 16:25, Paul and Silas were worshipping God in song, while they were barred in prison, and an earthquake suddenly broke through and freed all the prisoners. Likewise, in 2 Chronicles 20:22, God sent an ambush and defeated the enemies while the Israelites sang and praised the Lord.
Worship is indeed a majestic lifestyle that pervades every moment of a believer. Through God’s grace we are enabled to even offer our very breath as worship to the One who is the source of our life. In so doing, we are able to know Him more and deepen our relationship with Him, which in turn intensifies our worship… everything we do then; we do to the glory God.
It is the sincere wish and prayer of this Ministry that each Worship Concert that is organized opens up a great possibility to truly worship God and give Him the glory He deserves.
